This long relief mural, This Land So Rich in Beauty, takes its name from Snow – to the Tune of Qinyuanchun, a ci poem by Chairman Mao Zedong, the great leader of New China. Crafted with consummate craftsmanship by combining Huanggang granite from Baipo and forged red copper, the entire relief stretches 200 meters long and stands 2.5 meters high. It encapsulates renowned mountains, rivers, seas, lakes, urban architectures and other landmarks across China’s 9.6 million square kilometers of fertile land. Covering all seven major geographical regions, it features iconic scenic landscapes and landmark architectures representing China’s 34 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and autonomous regions. Mountains and buildings set each other off, ancient charm collides with modern vitality; the miniature frame holds a boundless world, while the towering scroll weaves together thousands of years of history.
The relief wall This Land So Rich in Beauty adopts a segmented handscroll composition with scattered focal points, blending eye-level perspectives for architectures and bird’s-eye views for landscapes to faithfully reproduce local scenes. Designed with an integrated aesthetic, it interweaves nature’s uncanny craftsmanship and the fruits of human wisdom. Perspective techniques are applied to create a powerful sense of spatial depth and extraordinary visual impact, transporting viewers on a meandering journey through the long river of history and civilization.
