The Dragon Boat Festival originated from the worship of celestial phenomena and evolved from the ancient worship of the dragon totem. Later, it incorporated legends commemorating historical figures such as Qu Yuan, Wu Zixu, Cao E, King Goujian of Yue, and Ma Yuan, and eventually evolved into a folk festival that integrates worshipping gods and ancestors, praying for blessings and warding off evil spirits, celebration and entertainment, and food.
