June 5 | World Environment Day

On June 5, 1972, the United Nations held a conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden. This was the first grand event where humanity focused on global environmental issues. The conference adopted the "Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment" and the action plan, put forward the concept of "Only One Earth", and suggested designating June 5th as "World Environment Day". In October of the same year, the 27th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to adopt the proposal. Since then, on June 5th every year, World Environment Day has called on the world to pay attention to environmental issues with different themes. It has gradually expanded from initially focusing on pollution prevention and control to areas such as climate change and biodiversity conservation, promoting the active participation of governments, organizations and the public in environmental protection actions, and has become an important node for global environmental protection publicity.
